Best Ever Tuna Hotdish!!

A delicious tuna hotdish is one of the first meals that comes to my mind when I think of “comfort food”.

This tuna hotdish is filled with savory tuna, warm noodles, melty cheese, sweet peas, and crunchy potato chips…do I have your attention yet?

This is the most delicious tuna hotdish that I have ever tasted and my daughter asks for it all the time. Try it out and I know you will agree!

In a hurry and need a “make ahead” version?  No problem, check out the bottom of this post for this same recipe, but prepared the night before and ready to bake the night you need it. The “make ahead” version is the recipe in red.

For this recipe, you will need tuna, cream of mushroom soup, milk, mayonnaise, cheddar cheese, frozen peas, egg noodles, and potato chips.

First, you want to start by boiling your noodles according to package instructions.  While these are boiling,  you can combine the tuna, soup, peas, milk, mayonnaise, cheese in a large bowl and set aside.

When your noodles are done cooking, drain the them and pour into a 9×13 pan.

Then, add the soup mixture that you have set aside to the noodles.

Stir well until all noodles are covered.

Place the pan in a 350 degree oven and bake for approximately 30-40 minutes. The hotdish should be bubbling on the sides when done.

While the hotdish is baking, put potato chips in a ziploc baggie.

Crush the potato chips.

Once the hotdish is done, remove from oven and apply the crushed potato chips on top.  Put back in the oven for another 5-10 minutes or until chips are slightly golden brown.

You can put the oven on broil to do this if you are in a hurry. If you do this however, do not take your eyes off of the hotdish at all!!! The chips will burn in seconds on broil if you aren’t watching them closely.

Once the chips are browned, remove from the oven and enjoy! This hotdish goes great with any nice salad and fresh fruit.

Best Ever Tuna Hotdish! Best Ever Tuna Hotdish:

l 12 oz. can of tuna ( I prefer to use solid white albacore tuna in water)

2 cans Cream of Mushroom Soup

1 1/3 cup milk

1 cup mayonnaise

1 cup grated cheddar cheese

1 cup frozen sweet peas

crushed potato chips (I usually use about a half of an 8oz. bag)

4 cups cooked medium egg noodles (cooked)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Boil egg noodles according to package instructions.

Combine tuna, soup, milk, mayonnaise, cheese, and peas in a large bowl and set aside.

When noodles are done, drain water off and add to a 9×13 baking dish.  Pour soup mixture over top of noodles and stir until all noodles are coated with soup mixture.

Bake uncovered in oven for 30-40 minutes.

Once hotdish is done baking, remove from oven and place crushed potato chips over the top of the hotdish.  Place back in oven for an additional 5-10 minutes or until chips are slightly golden brown.
