Does the month of March have any special significance to you or your family? Well, for my family, March is a month filled with birthdays and the yearly comeback of (drumroll please…)the famous Shamrock Shake from McDonalds.
As soon as March rolls around, we start looking for the “Shamrock Shake is Back” sign every time we drive by a McDonalds. We just cannot get enough of the minty, creamy, deliciousness that this shake offers. Since this Shamrock Shake is usually only available for a month or so every year, we decided to start making our own.
This copycat version is a quick and easy recipe so that you can feed your craving for this minty shake any time of the year. The ingredients you need for this copycat Shamrock Shake are vanilla ice cream, whole milk, peppermint extract, green food coloring, whipped cream and a cherry. The last two are optional, but come on…what is a Shamrock shake without them?
Simply add ice cream, milk, peppermint extract and food coloring into a blender.
Blend until all ingredients are incorporated and mixture is smooth.
Pour into a glass and add whip cream, a cherry, some sprinkles and a straw. Again, these last four items are optional, but why would you possibly leave them out? Everything is more fun to drink with whip cream, sprinkles, and a fun straw, right?
This recipe makes three medium size shakes or four small ones.
Delicious! Happy Shamrock Shake season everyone!!
